We were finally called to the conference room to talk with Christian's surgeon, Dr. Langly. Everything went very well. As mentioned to us yesterday, his tri-cuspid valve was leaking a tiny bit, so there was the possibility that he would do a small repair there... When he checked today, it was actually leaking quite a bit, so That was included in the surgery today.
The Low Down:
Christian underwent a Fontain procedure... the third and final surgery in a series of HLHS operations. While they were opening his chest, all of the surrounding scar tissue slightly tore his pulmonary valve, causing bleeding, so Dr. Langly patched that up. After completing the Fantain and the valve repair, Dr. Langly said that everything laid back in very nicely. He did say that Christian bled quite a bit, but he got it all under control and Christian was given blood products to compensate for his blood loss. They are in the process of closing him up now and we should be able to go be with our little superman by 6pm.
Again, thank you all so very much for all of your prayers and good thoughts. I will continue to update and will post some pictures soon... But just a heads up, the pictures will be of him sedated and covered in wires and tubes.
Love to you all
Nicole
So glad that everything went well today. You will busy for the next few weeks trying to keep him down so he doesn't injure himself. I don't envy you that task but so glad that you have it ahead. Love you.
