D-Day

I spent last night enjoying and soaking up every moment I could with Christian. This is the last time he will be healthy and  full of life for a while. I was laying down in bed for an attempt at a nap when i felt a little cheek press up against mine. He just kept it there for a few seconds, then lifted it up again and kissed my forehead. I kept my eyes closed because I wanted to just enjoy the moment. Tears filled my eyes. Then I heard a little voice, "mommy, wake up, you have tears in your eyes." That was the best non-nap I have ever had. "Will you play games with me?" So we spent the rest of the evening playing hotwheels, Buzz Lightyear and Zurg, puzzles and catch. We even sang a few songs, including his favorite, Pumped Up Kicks. What a crazy kiddo.

So, we didn't get much sleep last night. We ended up turning lights out around midnight and had to be up at 5:30... but between those hours, I kept waking up to watch my baby sleep. I know most moms will know what I mean when I say that I could literally sit and watch him sleep for hours. He is so beautiful and I know that it was the last restful sleep he will have for at least a month.

We had to check in at 6:45, then headed up to the surgery department right after. They gave him a good dose of Versed which made him quite the happy drunk. It is adorable. They took him back to the surgery sweet at 8am and we have yet to get the call that they have made the first incision. This is going to be a long day... I will keep posting as I get more news of his progress.
